THE CAFE JOYEUX FUNDAMENTALS

OUR PROJECT 

Bringing together the best of entrepreneurship and social responsibility: we want to reconcile economic performance with social responsibility and solidarity. 

Café joyeux's aim is to create a virtuous circle in the economy. This will be achieved through innovation and the development of a viable, sustainable and socially responsible business model, opening up access to employment for people with disabilities. It is a company whose sole shareholder is an endowment fund that supports this sustainable business model (MAD) with a dual CSR and profit vocation. 100% of our profits are used for the employment and training of all our happy team members with mental and cognitive disabilities, who are under the ordinary law regime.

We offer our original vision of a sustainable and inclusive economy. 

Café Joyeux is an innovative, socially responsible company wholly owned by a foundation (in the legal form of an endowment fund) pursuing a mission of general interest. This means that our shareholder in Café Joyeux is a not-for-profit organisation whose sole mission is inclusion. All economic organisations must serve people. We believe that business, as an essential economic player, must play its primary role, which is to enable work, dignity and human well-being.

THE FOUNDING SPIRIT 

We believe that each human being is unique and that his or her own qualities should be valued within our society. 

People with cognitive or mental disabilities are not usually very present in the day-to-day life of the business world. Most of the time, they are sidelined. 

In France, only O.5% of people with cognitive or mental disabilities have a job in an ordinary company.

Our project at Café Joyeux is twofold: 

  • To enable them to work, and thereby to feel useful, to fulfil themselves, to develop their talents and to play an active part in creating and sharing value. 
  • Through their joyful presence, to offer an exchange where we learn from others as much as they learn from us.

By opening several of our Cafés Joyeux, we don't want to create a chain, but a family of cafés/restaurants.

At Café Joyeux, our gourmet recipes, devised by Chef Thierry Marx, are home-cooked by our team using fresh, seasonal produce sourced locally.

Our day-to-day commitment to social and environmental responsibility 

Since the beginning of our adventure, we have been careful to ensure that working conditions are better adapted to the needs of all our teams. 

All Café Joyeux employees, whether disabled or not, benefit from the protective rules of the French Employment Code. We are committed to creating a working environment where everyone is respected and valued, regardless of their origin, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or beliefs, whether spiritual, philosophical or political. 

We are committed to developing our operating methods and the training courses we offer, and to preserving well-being in the workplace. 

Our fundamental CSR principles are shared by all internal and external stakeholders (governance, teams, suppliers, sponsors, pilots, volunteers, partners, etc.). They must be accepted by everyone who joins us. Their objectives are to guarantee the integrity and permanence of the spirit of Les Cafés Joyeux, while supporting the company's development and respecting environmental and sustainability issues. 

Our daily challenge is to reduce our ecological impact.

Our projects: 

  • Reducing our carbon footprint: we are looking for ways to improve and reduce our carbon footprint: 100% recycled or recyclable packaging, launch of an organic coffee, compostable organic capsules for one of our products, optimised transport, seasonal products and short distribution channels.
  • Fight against waste on a daily basis, partnership with Too Good to Go. 
  • Hunt for unnecessary or wasted megawatts: measure our energy consumption in our cafés-restaurants using HYPERLINK's Lynx technology. The best energy is the energy we don't consume! 

By publishing our happy basics, we are reaffirming our commitment to the inclusion of people with disabilities. We want to contribute to a society that looks at everyone with ever greater respect and fairness.
