Our range of speciality coffees

We have chosen to offer you a high quality coffee. It is sustainably and authentically sourced, and meets quality criteria identified by specialists, thus classifying it as a "specialty" coffee. This term refers to coffees marked with a score of 80/100 by the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America). Only 4% of the world's coffees carry this designation.

Café Joyeux is roasted in Strasbourg and packaged by 30 disabled people in Paris.

In 2017, we opened the first joyeux café-restaurant in Rennes, then in 2018, in Paris, in the Opéra district. In 2019, to accelerate our development, we are starting a selection, roasting and distribution activity of a solidarity coffee, in beans, capsules and ground coffee (Nespresso® compatible).

Do not hesitate to contact our cheerful team if you wish to be advised on your choice!

FROM CAFÉ JOYEUX ... TO YOUR OFFICE

Café Joyeux: our sourcer travels the world to find the best speciality coffees

PLANTING

Our sourceur travels the planet, no less than 18 countries, to unearth the finest vintages.

He studies the geographical location of the plantation, the nature of the soil, the altitude, the sunshine, the climate, but also the varieties and harvesting methods in order to guarantee the sensory qualities of the coffee.

Café Joyeux: picking to select ripe cherries which requires 4 to 8 passes per tree

THE COLLECTION

At Café Joyeux we use the "picking" method to select only ripe cherries by hand. This is a long and difficult method, which requires 4 to 8 passes per coffee tree.

Depending on the fermentation and the quality of the drying, the coffee will develop different and particular aromatic profiles.

Café Joyeux: a best worker in France creates the recipes for our speciality coffees

THE RECIPE

To develop our range of Cafés Joyeux, we work with a traditional roasting workshop in Strasbourg which works on different recipes called "blends".

The blend allows us to better balance the aromatic palette of the coffee and thus to appeal to the tastes of as many people as possible. All our recipes are created by a "Meilleure Ouvrière de France" (MOF).

Café joyeux : the roasting of our speciality coffees by our master roaster

The Roasting

During the roasting process, the sugars and water caramelise and gradually give the coffee beans their colour. Our master roaster observes and listens to the crackling of the beans for a perfect roast.

The coffee is then immediately cooled to stop its cooking and reveal its taste and smell.

A RESPONSIBLE APPROACH

Our roaster buys the majority of our coffees directly from growers who share our values. We respect the values of sustainable development:

  • Fair prices for local producers
  • Humane working conditions
  • Decent income for the plantation workers
  • 100% of the profits from our coffee are donated to the hiring of new Joyeux team members.

We have the ESUS label: Social Enterprise of Solidarity Use.

We offer an organic coffee*: a blend of 2 Arabicas from organic farming.

*From organic farming and certified by FR BIO 10
